Add the ChatBouncer AI chat box to your website. Paste your widget key, save, done.

== Description ==

[ChatBouncer](https://chatbouncer.com) is an AI chat box for any business's website. It answers your customers around the clock from the info you give it (hours, prices, services, FAQs) and emails you when a person is needed.

The chat will not invent prices. It will not take the bait when a visitor tries to talk it into a different answer. It will not run on somebody else's domain.

This plugin is the easy way to put ChatBouncer on a WordPress site. No code editing:

* Paste your widget key (or the whole embed code) under **Settings > ChatBouncer**.
* Turn the chat box on or off with one checkbox, without losing your key.
* The widget script is added to your site's footer the WordPress way (`wp_enqueue_script`, loaded async), so it does not slow your pages down.
* Works with any theme.

You need a ChatBouncer account to use this plugin. You can create one at [chatbouncer.com](https://chatbouncer.com).

== External services ==

This plugin connects your website to ChatBouncer, the service that runs the chat box. That connection is the whole point of the plugin, and it only happens after you paste a widget key and leave the chat box turned on.

* **What is loaded:** the ChatBouncer widget script (`w.js`) from the ChatBouncer app (currently `https://app-production-cefb.up.railway.app`, moving to `https://app.chatbouncer.com`). It is loaded on the public pages of your site, never in wp-admin.
* **What is sent, and when:** when a visitor's browser loads the script it sends your widget key and a random visitor ID. When a visitor opens the chat box and types, their messages (and any contact details they choose to type in) are sent to ChatBouncer so it can answer. The plugin itself sends nothing from your server.
* **Who provides it:** ChatBouncer. [Terms of Service](https://chatbouncer.com/terms/) and [Privacy Policy](https://chatbouncer.com/privacy/).

== Installation ==

1. In WordPress, go to **Plugins > Add New**, search for "ChatBouncer", then click **Install Now** and **Activate**. (Or upload `chatbouncer-wordpress.zip` under **Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin**.)
2. In WordPress go to **Settings > ChatBouncer** and click **Connect your account**.
3. Log in, pick the location, and the chat turns on. You don't copy a key or type the website address.
4. Already have the code? Paste it in the box under the button and click **Save changes**. On **Widget & embed**, the site address still has to be listed. Connect adds it for you.

Visit your site: the chat button appears in the bottom corner.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Where do I find my widget key? =

In your ChatBouncer dashboard, open your bot and go to the **Widget & embed** tab. The key starts with `pk_`. You can paste just the key or the whole line of embed code; the plugin picks out the key.

= I saved my key but I don't see the chat box. =

Check that "Show the chat box" is ticked, that your website's domain is listed under **Your website domains** in the ChatBouncer dashboard, and clear any caching plugin's cache. Then reload your site.

= Does it slow down my site? =

No. The script is small, loads asynchronously in the footer, and runs after your page has loaded.

= Can I turn it off for a while? =

Yes. Untick "Show the chat box" and save. Your key stays saved for when you turn it back on.

= What happens when I delete the plugin? =

The plugin removes its saved settings from your database. Your ChatBouncer account and bot are not affected. The script tag is gone with it.

= Can I add it with Google Tag Manager instead? =

Yes. Google Tag Manager uses this same script line: one Custom HTML tag, trigger All Pages. That is not a separate product.

= Will a copied key work on another website? =

No. The chat will not run on somebody else's domain. This plugin prints the tag only on the site where you saved the key, and ChatBouncer still checks that site's address against your domain list.
