Add ChatBouncer to BigCommerce

Add the code once with Script Manager and the chat box shows on every storefront page.

Coming soon The ChatBouncer app in the BigCommerce App Marketplace: install, paste your key, done. Until then, use Script Manager below.

1 Get your ChatBouncer code

  1. Create your ChatBouncer account (14-day free trial) or log in, and set up your assistant.
  2. In your dashboard, open your assistant and go to the Widget & embed tab.
  3. Click Copy code. It's one line that looks like this (yours has your own key): <script src="…/w.js" data-key="pk_…" async></script>
  4. On the same tab, under Your website domains, add every address your site uses (your domain and your store-….mybigcommerce.com address) and save. The chat box only runs on the addresses you list.

2 Add the code in BigCommerce

  1. In your BigCommerce control panel, go to Storefront › Script Manager. (Using Multi-Storefront? Script Manager is in Channel Manager, under your storefront.)
  2. Click Create a Script.
  3. Script name: ChatBouncer. Placement: Footer. Location: Storefront pages.
  4. Script category: Functional (BigCommerce's category for live chat).
  5. Script type: choose to enter the script yourself, then paste your ChatBouncer code. Leave Load method on Default.
  6. Click Save. It can take about 20 seconds to appear on your store.

Script Manager works with Stencil themes (nearly every store). Older Blueprint themes don't support it.

3 Check it and go live

  1. Open your store in a new tab. The chat button shows in the bottom corner.
  2. Back in your ChatBouncer dashboard, press Go live so your assistant starts answering visitors.
