Add ChatBouncer to Squarespace
Paste the code once in Code Injection and the chat box shows on every page.
1 Get your ChatBouncer code
- Create your ChatBouncer account (14-day free trial) or log in, and set up your assistant.
- In your dashboard, open your assistant and go to the Widget & embed tab.
- Click Copy code. It's one line that looks like this (yours has your own key):
<script src="…/w.js" data-key="pk_…" async></script> - On the same tab, under Your website domains, add every address your site uses (your domain and your
yoursite.squarespace.comaddress) and save. The chat box only runs on the addresses you list.
2 Add the code in Squarespace
- Open the Code Injection panel. The quickest way is Squarespace's own link: open Code Injection (pick your site if asked).
- Paste your ChatBouncer code into the Footer field.
- Click Save.
Code Injection is available on Squarespace's Core, Plus and Advanced plans (and some older plans). Squarespace doesn't allow code on checkout pages, so the chat box won't show there.
Google Tag Manager uses this same script line: one Custom HTML tag, trigger All Pages. That is not a separate product.
3 Check it and go live
- Open your site in a new tab. The chat button shows in the bottom corner.
- Back in your ChatBouncer dashboard, press Go live so your assistant starts answering visitors.
Don't see the button? Check the address bar matches one of the addresses under Your website domains. Still stuck? Email [email protected] and we'll help.
