Guide
Train a chatbot on your own PDFs and Word docs. No code needed.
A lot of what customers ask is already written down: your return policy, your service menu, your price sheet, your new-client packet, your warranty terms. The problem is that it's sitting in a PDF or a Word doc on your computer, not on the screen of the customer asking at 10 p.m.

On the Pro and Business plans, ChatBouncer can learn from your PDF and Word documents, and your website chat box answers from them. No code, no developer. This guide covers how it works, how to get your documents ready, and how to check the answers.
How it works
Your chat box already learns from your website and from the info you save in your dashboard: hours, prices, services and FAQs. On Pro and Business, your PDF and Word documents become extra knowledge it can answer from.
When a customer asks a question, the chat box answers from that saved info and nothing else. If the answer isn't there, it doesn't guess. It tells the customer the owner will confirm, takes their contact and emails you the question.
That's the part that matters with documents. A chatbot "trained" on your files should stick to your files, not fill the gaps with something that sounds right.
Which plans include documents?
PDF and Word knowledge is part of the Pro and Business plans:
| Plan | Price | Documents | Websites | Customer messages / month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $29/mo | Not included (uses your website and saved info) | 1 | 1,500 |
| Pro | $59/mo | Up to 15 PDF & Word docs | Up to 3 | 5,000 (shared) |
| Business | $119/mo | Up to 50 PDF & Word docs | Up to 10 | 15,000 (shared) |
Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. On Starter, your chat box still answers from your website and the hours, prices, services and FAQs you save. You can switch plans anytime from your Billing page. Compare plans in detail.
What to upload first
Start with the documents behind the questions you answer most often. Good first uploads, depending on your business:
- Policies: returns, refunds, cancellations, deposits, late fees.
- Menus and service lists: services, packages, what's included.
- Price sheets: if your prices are public and current.
- Guides and FAQs: new-client or new-patient info, care instructions, what to bring, how to prepare.
- Product info: specs, sizing guides, warranty terms.
- Location and logistics: parking, delivery areas, service areas, booking rules.
A restaurant might upload its catering menu and event policy. A law firm, its consultation process and what to bring. A hotel, its pet and parking policies. A contractor, its service area and warranty. The same feature works for any business of any size.
How to prep your files (4 quick checks)
A few minutes of prep makes the answers better.
1 Make sure it's the current version
The chat box answers from what you give it. An old price sheet means old prices. Remove outdated files before you add new ones.
2 Keep private info out
Only upload what you'd be happy for any customer to read. Leave out internal notes, staff details, customer records and anything confidential.
3 Use clear headings
Documents with headings like "Returns", "Shipping" or "Cancellation policy" are easier for you to check, and they keep related details together.
4 One topic per file, where you can
A focused "Return policy" PDF is easier to keep up to date than a 60-page binder. When the policy changes, you swap one file.
Test the answers before you go live
- Log in to your ChatBouncer dashboard on Pro or Business and add your PDF and Word documents to your assistant's knowledge.
- Paste your one line of code on your site (or use the free WordPress plugin) and open your site in a new tab.
- Ask the chat box the questions your customers ask: "What's your cancellation policy?", "Do you deliver to my area?", "What's included in the premium package?"
- Ask one question you know isn't covered anywhere, to make sure it says the owner will confirm instead of guessing.
- When you're happy, press Go live in your dashboard.
If an answer is missing or unclear, fix the document or add the answer to your saved FAQs, then ask again. Install guides for WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace and any other website are on our install page.
Keep it up to date
Your chat box is only as current as your documents. When you change a price, a policy or a menu, swap the file the same day. And when a customer asks something your documents don't cover, the chat box emails you the question, so you can see what to add next.
Questions
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You install the chat box by pasting one line of code or using the free WordPress plugin. No developer needed.
What file types can I add?
PDF and Word documents.
How many documents can I add?
Up to 15 on Pro ($59/mo) and up to 50 on Business ($119/mo). Documents aren't included on Starter.
Will the chatbot make things up if the answer isn't in my documents?
No. It answers only from your saved info. When something isn't there, it says the owner will confirm and emails you the question with the customer's contact.
Can I try it before I pay?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial; cancel before it ends and you won't be charged. You can also try the free homepage preview, which builds a temporary chat box from your website's public pages.
